„Controlling norddeutsch – gut getrimmt in die Zukunft“ war am Sonnabend die ICV-Regionaltagung Nord überschrieben. „Gut informiert“, „gut vernetzt“ und „gut gelaunt“ sind weitere passende Attribute für dieses höchst gelungene Event mit Schwerpunkt Digitalisierung; gemeinsam organisiert von den norddeutschen Arbeitskreisen des ICV.
Nach kurzer Begrüßung durch Matthias Wolfskeil, ICV-Delegierter Deutschland Nord, und Matthias von Daacke, stv. ICV-Vorstandsvorsitzender, stellte Prof. Dr. Philipp Reinbacher, Professor für Betriebswirtschaftslehre und Controlling die gastgebende Hochschule Fresenius Hamburg, „dem schönsten Standort einer Hochschule in Deutschland überhaupt“, vor. (Da ist etwas dran!)
Sein Hochschulkollege Prof. Dr. Tobias Brendel (Bild unten), Studiendekan BWL, nahm in seinem anschließenden Vortrag „Künstliche Intelligenz – Potenziale und Anwendungen“ die gebannt Zuhörenden mit „in den Maschinenraum der KI“ um ihnen zu „zeigen, wie eine KI arbeitet“. Verständlich erklärte er robuste Mustererkennung als „die Stärke heutiger KI“ und die enorme Bedeutung von Deep Learning, die er mit der Elektrifizierung gleichsetzte: „Deep Learning treibt auf vielen Innovationsfeldern den Fortschritt“.
Frank Alexandris-Springhorn vom ICV-Arbeitskreis AK Nord III stellte in seinem Vortrag „Digitalisierung im Spannungsfeld zwischen Agilität und Kontinuität“ Antworten auf die Frage, „Wie findet der Controller die ökonomisch richtige Balance?“, vor.
Ebenfalls aus der Unternehmenspraxis stammten die Schilderungen von Daniel Taphorn und Johannes Riecken (Bild unten), STRABAG AG, AK Nord III. Sie berichteten, wie die Steuerung auf Baustellen verbessert wird, um Bauabläufe besser und effektiver zu gestalten. Ihre Herausforderung: wertschöpfende und werterhöhende Tätigkeiten fördern und Verschwendung eindämmen. Anschaulich belegten sie ihre These, dass „‚Lean‘ und ‚Digitalisierung‘ zusammengehören“.
Der stv. ICV-Vorstandsvorsitzende, Managing Direktor und Head of Controlling der BLANCO Group, Matthias von Daacke (Bild unten), berichtete unter der Überschrift, „Controlling@BLANCO – Wie ein Hidden Champion sein Geschäft steuert“.
Auch der abschließende Vortrag gab eine Reihe von Denkanstößen aus der Unternehmenspraxis: Christoph Bückle, Leiter Finanzen & Controlling, LichtBlick SE, vom AK Nord III referierte über die Controlling-Rolle im Innovationsprozess am Beispiel eines Energieversorgers.
Während der Tagung hatten die Teilnehmenden übrigens auch die Auflösung der Quizfragen über Hamburg vom Vorabend erfahren und wurde in einem Stechen ein Gewinnerteam ermittelt. Gelegenheiten zum Networking wurden intensiv genutzt und am Spätnachmittag traten die Gäste ihre Heimreise an, erfüllt von einer anregenden Tagung der Controlling-Kompetenz „im Norden“.
Alle zwei Jahre findet eine ICV-Controlling-Nordtagung statt. Die nächste also 2021, sicher wieder in einer Hansestadt. Bis dahin laden die norddeutschen Arbeitskreise von Flesburg über Kiel und Hamburg bis Bremen und Hannover zu Besuchen und zur Mitarbeit ein. Informationen und Kontakte auf der ICV-Website.

“Controlling North German – well trimmed for the future” was entitled the Regional Conference North last Saturday. “Well informed”, “well connected” and “in a good mood” are further suitable attributes for this highly successful event focusing on digitization; organized jointly by the North German work groups of the ICV.
After a short welcome by Matthias Wolfskeil, ICV Delegate Germany North, and Matthias von Daacke, Vice Chairman of the ICV Executive Board, Prof. Dr. Philipp Reinbacher, Professor of Business Administration and Controlling from the host university Fresenius Hamburg, presented “the most beautiful university’s location in Germany at all” (There is something in it!)
Then his colleague Prof. Dr. Tobias Brendel (picture below), Dean of Economics, in his speech “Artificial intelligence – potentials and applications” took the spellbound audience with him “into the engine room of the AI” to “show them how an AI works”. Understandably, he explained robust pattern recognition as “the strength of today’s AI” and the enormous importance of deep learning, which he equated with electrification: “deep learning drives progress in many fields of innovation”.
Frank Alexandris-Springhorn from the ICV work group WG Nord III presented in his speech “Digitization in the field of tension between agility and continuity” answers to the question “How does the controller find the economically correct balance?”.
The presentation by Daniel Taphorn and Johannes Riecken (picture below), STRABAG AG, WG Nord III came also from the praxis. They reported on how to improve management on construction sites to make construction processes better and more effective. Their challenge: promoting value-adding activities and curbing waste. They vividly demonstrated in their speech that “’lean’ and ‘digitization’ belong together”.
The Vice Chairman of the ICV, Managing Director and Head of Controlling of the BLANCO Group, Matthias von Daacke (picture below), presented the speech “Controlling@BLANCO – How a hidden champion manages the business”.
The closing speech also provided some food for thought from corporate practice: Christoph Bückle, Head of Finance & Controlling, LichtBlick SE, from WG Nord III gave a presentation on the controlling role in the innovation process using the example of an energy supplier.
During the conference the participants also heard about the dissolution of the quiz questions about Hamburg from the evening before and a winning team was determined in a jump-off. Opportunities for networking were used intensively and in the late afternoon the guests started their journey home, filled with a stimulating conference of the controlling competence “in the north”.
Every two years, the ICV Regional Conference North takes place. The next one in 2021, certainly back in a Hanseatic city. Until then, the North German work groups from Flesburg via Kiel and Hamburg to Bremen and Hanover are inviting for visits and cooperation. Information and contacts on the ICV website.
